Employee Onboarding and Orientation

While the term "onboarding" may seem a bit obtuse, in the HR world, the focus is certainly dead-on in what it can accomplish beyond the standard orientation procedures long practiced in business. More so than just getting new hires instructed in policies and procedures, onboarding takes the approach that initial steps taken with a new hire can mean the difference between a short-term and long-term tenure with your company.  Here are key questions that a well designed onboarding plan can answer:

  • What do we do to build a positive image of our company?
  • What steps do we take to encourage socialization?
  • Do we clearly set performance expectations?
  • How do we decrease any learning curve?
  • Do we adequately communicate our company's standards and values?
  • How can we reduce new employee anxiety?

Critical first steps can make a marked difference when introducing a new employee into your culture.  Let us help you build a welcome mat that could drive a difference in your turnover experience.
